BJP to raise atrocities against Dalits in Parliament

Madurai, Sep 16 : The Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP) would raise issue
of atrocities allegedly being committed against Dalits in TamilNadu in
Parliament. Talking to newsmen here today after visiting those injured
in the police firing at the Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) here,
Party's National Spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said the atrocities
against Dalits will be discussed at the two-day meeting of BJP's
National Executive to be held in New Delhi on September 30 and October
one in which top leaders of the party will attend.

Ms Nirmala, who was one among a five-member Fact Finding Team formed
by Party President Nitin Gadkari to inquire into the killings of
Dalits in police firing during violence at Paramakudi in
Ramanathapuram on September 15 last, said the team will inquire under
what circumstances the police had opened fire on the public.

"We will meet State Director General of Police at Chennai, tomorrow
and after that, a detailed report will be submitted to Nitin Gadkari,"
she added. Later, the BJP team lead by Mr Arjun Meghwal MP, Dr Kirit
Solanki MP, Mr Ramnath Kovind, Ms Nirmala Sitharaman and Mr Pon
Radhakrishnan, who is Party's State President, met District Collector
U Sagayam and senior police officials and discussed with him about the
incidents.

Later, the team visited Ramanathapuram and consoled the firing
victims's families and also the injured persons. They interacted with
the affected people and visited the Four Point Road at Paramakudi,
where the violence broke out.
