TCN Special Correspondent,

Ranchi: Dr. Rameshwer Oraon, chairman of National Commission for
SC/STs, putting his weight behind the demand for reservation in the
corporate sector for the downtrodden, said, now it is the
responsibility of corporate sector to come forward to uplift the
downtrodden communities of the country.

"The corporate sector must fulfill its responsibilities towards the
betterment of downtrodden classes and should spend an amount of its
profit on welfare activities," said, Dr. Oraon while resealing a
documentary film here on Sunday.

Asked if he is for reservation in corporate sector or not, he said, "I
fully support the demand for reservation in corporate sector". Dr.
Oran further said, "With growth of 8-9 percentage, it is time for the
marginalised communities to benefit from it and reservation would be
the first step in that regard".

On the issue of ongoing anti-encroachment drive in Jharkhand, he said,
"the judiciary is doing its part but government has to show its human
face". "No one should be evacuated until proper arrangement for
rehabilitation is made," he added. He also demanded the government to
give land to landless families.

The film, Ankahi, the Untold story is based on a true story of the
village Titla in Lohardaga district of the state. It documents the
plight of child and unorganised labour in the area. The film is
directed by a local documentary film maker Ashar Hussain, who has 32
films on his credit. The release and premier show was attended by
Jharkhand Minorities' Commission chairman, Dr. Gulfam Mujibi, Senior
Congressman, Roshan Lal Bhatia and folk Madhu Mansoori among others.
