MYSORE: Members of various dalit organizations took out a protest
rally demanding action against the group that assaulted dalit youths
here recently.
In an alleged group clash at Naganahalli on Saturday night, two dalit
youths were assaulted by a group when they were travelling in a bus.
Victims Shashikumar and Parashuram were dragged out of the bus and
beaten up.
The protest by Karnataka Dalit, Backward Class and Minorities Forum
and Karnataka Backward Class Jagruta Vedike was led by former mayor
Purushotham, who urged the authorities to take action. "Atrocities on
dalits are increasing. No government has taken steps to prevent this
discrimination. If atrocities continue, we will take law into our
hands," threatened Purushotham, seeking protection to dalits.
