8 DHRM activists granted bail

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Thursday granted bail to eight
activists of the Dalit Human Rights Movement (DHRM), who are accused
in the Varkkala murder case.

Those who were granted bail are - first accused Das alias Kunjan,
third accused Jayan alias Jayachandran, fourth accused Madhu alias
Saji, fifth accused N Sudhi, eighth accused Suresh alias Soman, ninth
accused Subhash alias Soman, tenth accused Sunil alias Ponnumon and
twelfth accused Chandrasekharan alias Thomas.

The incident occurred on September 23, 2009, between 5 am and 5.15 am.
Sixty-twoyear- old Sivaprasad, who was on the road for morning walk,
was allegedly attacked and killed by a group of DHRM activists.
